MEET THE EXTREMELY HARD WORKING STAFF AT ST. NICHOLAS!

MR. ROB WILLIAMS
HEADTEACHER OF ST. NICHOLAS CHURCH IN WALES PRIMARY SCHOOL
I have been Headteacher at St Nicholas since September 2006.
The moment I walked into the school, I knew I wanted to be a part of the continuing success. The whole school ethos is one of enjoyment in learning, enthusiasm for new challenges and caring for each other as a whole church-school family.
I have previously taught in a range of different schools.
I started teaching in Fairwater Primary School, Cardiff and was there for 9 years. One of the pupils in the school (although he was never in my class) was a certain Mr Joe Ledley, who is making a name for himself as an international footballer with Wales and, more regularly, for Cardiff City. I tried to convert him to rugby but he was having none of it!
I then became Deputy Headteacher at Peterston-super-Ely Church in Wales Primary School in the Vale of Glamorgan. I very much enjoyed my 3 years there and it is good to be able to still meet staff, pupils and families at the various sporting events we attend together.
I then moved from Peterston to become Deputy Headteacher at Nantyffyllon Primary School, Maesteg. Again, I was there for 3 years and very much enjoyed working in such a successful valleys school. A very friendly and supportive school and one in which I learnt a great deal.
I am originally from Cardiff and am part of a very big family - I have four brothers, two older, two younger. I am married to Caroline, who teaches in Cardiff. We have two children - Tom, who is 10 and Dee who is 18 months old.
I am a HUGE rugby fan and avidly follow Cardiff Blues and Wales - so please be nice to me when either of them lose.... which is a little too often at the moment!

I was born in Cardiff, but like Miss Morris and Mrs Fouracre I have been brought up in Barry. As a small child I went to Romilly Infant and Junior School - which I loved! I moved on to Bryn Hafren Comprehensive school, where I sat my GCSEs. To sit my A Levels I had to do a bit of moving around.......I studied in Bryn Hafren, Barry Comprehensive (formally the Boys School) and Barry College all at the same time! From here I went to Glamorgan University, where I completed my BSc in Psychology. This has come in very handy working in St Nicholas! Determined to be the eternal student, I decided that I would like to become a teacher and embarked on yet another course, a Primary PGCE in Newport. After gainning my teaching qualifications I worked as a supply teacher in and around the Vale for two years. I had visited St Nicholas several times as a supply and thought it was a lovely little school. I was thrilled when I was lucky enough to get a job in the Reception / Year One class in the Autumn of 2005. I live in Barry with my husband Ross.In my spare time I am usually to be found at the local leisure centre. I love circuit training, aerobics and swimming! Just like Mrs Fouracre I really enjoy cooking, hence my need to do lots of exercise! |

I have been teaching in St Nicholas since 1995, before that I studied for a BA in education at UWIC. During my time at St Nicholas it has been great to see children come through the school and then come back to visit as young adults. I have three children of my own, Megan who is now 11, Sam who is 10 and Matt who is 7. As well as a busy family life, I like to take time out to read, garden ( I am a closet Charlie Dimock) and go to the cinema. I also find time to listen to music at home or go to see a band. More recently I have, like my colleagues, started to watch rugby, and my claim to fame is that I have met some famous people at the Millennium Stadium including Uncle Bryn and Nessa from 'Gavin and Stacey' and my favourite, the All Blacks. |
I was born in Cardiff and, like Miss Morris, brought up in Barry. I attended Barry Grammar School and then Bryn Hafren Comprehensive School. Following my A levels I studied for a BEd in Cardiff University. During this time I also won a vocal scholarship to the School of Music and Drama. I have since spent some time on the supply list and I also spent two years happily teaching a Year One class at Barry Island. I am married with two children, both now adults - James and Dominic. I enjoy cooking and, as a consequence, frequently have Mr Downey for Sunday lunch! I also enjoy most music and art/ design; I find the time spent in my garden particularly pleasant as I can forget everything else! |

I was born in Cardiff and educated at Eglwys Newydd Primary School and then Whitchurch Grammar School (which became Whitchurch High when I was in Year 11).
I qualified as a teacher at Swansea and gained a Post Graduate Diploma and Masters Degree in Education at UWE in Bristol.
I have been a teacher for 30 years and have equal experience of working with children at both Key Stage 1 and 2.I have taught at several schools in London and Bristol, before becoming Deputy Headteacher at St. Nicholas C/W Primary School.
I enjoy walking in beautiful places, visiting the theatre, the opera and classical music venues. I also like gardening - well, it's more like pottering about really and getting rid of stress on the weeds! |

I arrived at St. Nicholas in January 1998, from Evenlode Primary School in Penarth. I have taught all age groups, including Reception, although that was quite an experience. Year 6 is by FAR my favourite year group. I am a sports fanatic and love to watch and play all sports - particularly rugby, tennis, football and cricket. Rugby heaven to me is watching the Cardiff Blues and my favourite players are Martyn Williams and Xavier Rush. Until my injury, I absolutely loved playing rugby, especially at loosehead prop. I also spent 2 years as assistant coach at Penarth U12's and U13's. Well that's enough about rubgy, let's talk about cricket - which I am also crazy about. I thoroughly enjoy playing cricket at playtimes, especially beating IEUAN AND LEE with my Googly or Dousra. In school my favourite subjects are Maths, History, P.E. and I.T.
Even though I might not look it I am fairly fit and enjoy swimming, cycling and playing squash, although since breaking my ankle I have had to limit my playing of many of these sports. I do have interests other than sport, honestly! I have travelled extensively on three different continents. Perth, in Western Australia being my favourite trip, well apart from being stung by a jellyfish - thank goodness it wasn't a Portugese-man-of-War. This was followed closely by my Eastern European Vacation to Prague and Budapest in 1995, where I loved relaxing in the amazing Turkish Baths. Oh did I mention that I am a fan of the greatest football team in the world -no not Man U the biggest Cheaters in the world -but LIVERPOOL!!! |

Hello everyone! I was born in Cardiff and attended Trelai Primary School. After there I went to Glan Ely High School, where I got all my GCSEs. Unfortunately i could'nt stay there to do my A-Levels so i had to go to Coleg Glan Hafren. Once again I passed all these and was soon off to university. Like Mrs. Taylor Gibbs I went to Glamorgan university where I studied History. (My favourite subject) After finishing this I was off again to UWIC to complete my PGCE. I was really excited about that as I have always wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. I just love watching children discover that they can do things for the first time, its very satisfying. It was my teacher training that brought me to St. Nicholas in 2004 where I was placed under the watchful eye of Mrs. Freeman. (She taught me everything I know) I am glad to say that I really enjoyed myself and was thrilled to come back on a regular basis as their supply teacher. Even when I am not in the classroom teaching I am normally lurking somewhere! This is due to the fact that I am a very nice person and often help Mr. D out with certain activities. So far I have worked with the football teams, netball teams, Class 4's gardening project (which I am organising again, because Mr. D thinks he will kill everything off) and Class 3's weave last year. When I am not occupied by school activities then I can be found at home working on my many projects of reading, drawing disney characters, painting and sewing. I have to be doing something all of the time otherwise I get very bored. Well I think that is just about everything, so I will probably see you all very soon! |
