How smooth are this group of healthy children???

Reports from the School Councillors on their interesting morning at Barry Memorial Hall

My favourite bit was the permonces on the stage.

We made a power Point Presentation about all of us and we brought back some buddy equitment.

By Olivia Dowling

It was fun watching the other presentations (not the belly dancers Mr. D!!!) and the freebies. Our schools powerpoint presentation didn't save so we were worried but we did the other Powerpoint instead.

By Lee 'Belly Dancing' Thomas

The presentation was great fun!!! We were included in the presentation! There was loads of teachers and pupils there at barry! I was glad that lots of people enjoyed our power point and out props. We all had great fun!!!

By Beautiful Jordan

Today five school councillors went to Barry Memorial Hall. My best part was the prefomances (and I bet Lee's was the belly dancers)
My worst part was the speechs I thought that were more for adults then children, but thank you Mr. D, Mr. Williams and Mrs Bryant for taking us.

  • Valeways Initiative with Ian Harvey

All is quiet on the Western Front!

Busy Busy Children making the CUT!

The children have just completed their second Year of the Valeways Project.  The work they have been undertaking is picking up litter on footpaths between St. Nicholas and Peterston and cutting back excess greenary on the path and at styles

Here are some comments from the children involved in the project

I really like the work with Ian Harvey. I think it is really good and fun.  It is very good for the environment and fun.  It tells us what we should do with litter.  I like the walks and picking up litter and hope to do it again before I leave

by Emily Azzopardi

A man called Ian Harvey from Valeways regularly takes us on a walk around the footpaths in the village to pick up litter and to cut back hedgerows.

My best walk was to Peterson and back.

by Lee Thomas

Valeways Walk

Once every month Ian Harvey comes in and we clear the path next to our school field.

We also keep the village tidy and cut back the overgrowth. I really enjoy doing it!

by Jack Griffiths

Valeways Walk

What a great experience for the children, to learn the value of keeping the local environment clean and the footpath accessible.  Walking also keeps the children fit

by Mr. Downey

..............................................................................................................................................

Recently Ian Harvey, who has worked so hard with Class 4, transferred to KEEP WALES TIDY.

However we have continued the partnership and next year it with continue to go from strength to strength.

KEEP ST NICHOLAS TIDY!

You will hardly recognise the place!

Please read the children's reports to evaluate our progress to date:

On Tuesday 24th June class 4 went on a walk picking up litter around the village with Ian Harvey. It was amazing, but tiring.  We found loads of rubbish (like Man U ha ha) and went in a feild, in the church yard and other places. when we got back to school a lady called Julie had a talk with us and showed us pictures of animals trying to eat the rubbish and they got stuck in the rubbish, like a hedghog going to eat tinned cat food, but there was nothing in there and the hedghog got its head stuck in the can.

by Emily Azzopardi

The long walk was really fun we went all the way around the village picking litter we found 2 car wheels and we found crisp packets and loads of other things we had fun walking round and the litter pickers are fun to use.

by Fran and Harry Fundell
