EXTRA-CURRICULAR CLUBS AT ST. NICHOLAS
The children at St. Nicholas have a wide variety of clubs where they can develop their skills. Every teacher in the school gives up their time, either at lunchtime, or after school.

NEWSPAPER CLUB We have a club where pupils are able to produce a newspaper. The newspaper is full of events and activities chosen by our pupils. A paper is produced once every term.

GARDENING CLUB In Gardening Club, the children learn all about designing, maintaining and working in a garden. The pupils look after our garden area. They choose flowers to plant and grow, they keep the seated area tidy and make it a special place to sit and spend time.

SCIENCE CLUB In Science club the pupils learn about scientific ideas. They investigate scientific problems using experiments and they are able to gain certificates and awards for their efforts.

FOOTBALL CLUBS We have two football clubs. In each session the pupils learn and practise new skills - passing, dribbling, receiving and controlling the ball. Hopefully, they learn to use these new skills when they next play a football match. Click here to enter the Football Page
NETBALL CLUB In the netball club, pupils are able to learn how to work together as a team. They learn how to use their speed and balance to send and receive the ball. They also learn how to defend and how to attack and score. |

CHOIR In the chior the children learn a range of songs and how to use pitch and dynamics effectively in their voices.
RECORDER CLUB In this club the children get the opportunity to learn how to play, correctly, a musical instrument Both these clubs have perfomed their talents at St. David's Hall and many School Events.

CRICKET CLUB This is an extremely popular club and the coach, Mr. D is extremely enthusiastic about it. We practice at Wednesday lunchtimes, and in the Summer Term, also on a Wednesday evening. The children learn the correct techniques for batting, bowling and fielding. We are still Vale Kwik Cricket Champoins 2006 (no tournament last year due to rain)

TACKLE RUGBY In this club the children get the opportuniny to learn the correct techniques for passing, tackling, rucking, mauling and attacking flair. Hopefully we will get an opportunity to apply our skills to a competitive game.
TAG RUGBY Here the children get an opportunity every half term to show their attacking flair in tournaments in schools across the Vale. At our home tournament we were privilaged to welcome Cardiff Blues star Nicky Robinson and Jason Jones-Hughes

NEW FOR 2008 - TECHNOGLOGY In this club the children get the opportuniny to plan and make a variety of things from personalised pot to fruit smoothies and kebabs. The club forges a close link with the schools Healthy Schools Initiative

NEW FOR 2009 - FRENCH
How are you? - Ca Va? Comme ce comma ca - I'm ok! or maybe Good thanks!! - Bein merci!!
In this club run by Mrs Freeman, the children get the opportuniny to learn French vocabulary and play games in a fun way.
The club runs on a Thursday for Year's 3 & 4, from 15:30 to 16:30 |

VIOLIN Mrs Howells provides lessons for children in Years 3-6. The children receive their gradings and play superbly in many school concerts and events. Lessons are provided every Tuesday afternoon
EVOLVE SPORTS In this club the Infant children (Years 1&2) get to demonstrate and develop their ball skills under expert coaches. This club is provided on Monday between 15:30 - 16:30
KARATE Mr. Rob Copeland, his wife and daugher provide this club. Karate teaches you how to self deffend yourself its really good and fun. Children enter many competitions at weekends and do extremely well.
